According to a report by Vaping Post on July 15th, the Egyptian Customs Authority issued Notice No. 35 of 2024, which includes new regulations on the taxation of e-cigarettes.
 
Rasha Abdel Aal Rady, Director of the Egyptian Tax Authority, explained that the notice is based on correspondence between the Tax Authority and Customs regarding the taxation of e-liquids and disposable e-cigarettes. The director stated that after a study by the Tax Law Committee, established by Ministerial Resolution No. 206 of 2020, the committee concluded that disposable e-cigarettes should be subject to a 14% VAT on their value. This opinion was approved by the Minister of Finance on May 30th.
 
If strictly enforced, this new regulation is expected to lead to an increase in the prices of disposable e-cigarettes in the Egyptian market.
